So I had a minor knee surgery today, to fix my Patella Displacement Syndrome. It was the first surgery I ever had so I was really nervous. However, it went really well and the pain is really manageable. I'm finally done with all of my finals, registered for my online winter class, and working on recovering as soon as possible so I can enjoy Christmas. I'm really excited to be home and not be distracted by all my classes and just work on my portfolio. I did get to hang out with friends a few times over the last couple weeks, and here is a picture of me and my friend Justine in front of the tree in Bryant Park:

Photos from visiting the tree with Alex;

I also visited a Chuck Close gallery in Chelsea as a part of my Life Drawing class.

And finally, some of my school work;

A top I made for myself :)

My final for my Fashion Art and Design class was to design a line as though we worked for Chanel, so I chose to do a line inspired by motorcycle apparel with a lot of quilt-stiching, pearls, zipper teeth, and leather.

There's so much I'm hoping to do this Winter Break! There are a few places I've been wanting to go to with Alex, my boyfriend, new movies coming out that I've been wanting to see, friends to visit, and new projects to work on! I've been meaning to put a lot more work into my website, www.karliehoferichter.weebly.com, and of course, relaxing with family over the holidays. I'm just hoping for a speedy recover and things to go as well as they have been. I tend to always plan a lot, so if I even get to doing half of these things I will be happy.

Happy Holidays! xoxo

Here are some of my favorite looks from the Nicole Miller Pre-Fall 2013 show,

I really love a lot of these looks! There are so many great separates and I like how they styled the looks together.

I also loved the styling of the Dsquared2 show, I love the model's warm dark skin and dark lipstick, she's stunning. These are some of my favorites;

School is still really busy, especially with midterms. I don't actually have midterms, just really big projects to finish. I'm still catching up on all the Spring 2013 fashion shows. Here are some pictures from Akris, who's show I really loved this season;

So I haven't posted in a while… Apparently school is a lot more hectic than I thought.
I interned for Timo Weiland during Mercedes-benz fashion week and it was a great experience. I had the opportunity to see model-castings, fittings, before-the-show chaos, hair styling and makeup testing, go to Women's Wear Daily, and witness Press Release video-tapings. I also helped work on garments, mostly last minute button-placements and things like that, but I also helped sew a Swarovski-crystal top.
After the show, however, I realized the dyer need for me to focus on my school work. Not that I was behind, but in such a competitive environment I really wanted to be ahead. I also have a lot of responsibility because I have a kitchen and bathroom in my dorm…and no maid-service, to say the least. I would really love to continue interning, or even get a job, but I need to put school first, and my health.
Today I found out that I'm going to need two separate knee surgeries, three months a part. The doctor said the recovery time was minimal, but we all know that they tend to under-estimate. I'm getting surgery as soon as I get done with finals, and hopefully I'll be better for Christmas, but it looks like I won't be snowboarding much this Winter.

I don't have photos for yah, but here are some of my favorite looks from the McQueen Spring 2013 show!

Saturday was mostly a girls day. Me and some of my new friends went to pick up a friend in Central Park (because she had never taken a subway…and if you've ever been on a NYC subway you know they can be sketchy.) We all went to Bed Bath and Beyond and I got tons of stuff for my dorm so i'll need to upload some more photos soon. Afterwards, we all had a "fancy night out" and went to Max Brenner's Chocolate House with some of the boys. Here are some photos!

So here comes the big news.

Friday was fashion week volunteer sign ups. The lines were insane, I had tons of important info sessions to go to (it was still orientation) and the heat was ridiculous. I talked myself out of waiting online, and that if I was meant to do fashion week I would find my own way. So as I was going through my emails I noticed one from someone who contacted me about an internship that didn't work out. I figured there would be no harm in offering a hand to them for fashion week…after all, the design houses are busiest at this time of year. Soon enough, They emailed me back saying they were very much interested in my assistance. So this New York Fashion Week, I will be volunteering for Timo Weiland!
Wish me luck, xoxo

My floormates are all really nice and we all get along great. We've been going out together and meeting people and constantly having fun. There's so much to do in New York City it's almost overwhelming. Friday Night I went out with some friends to Bryant Park and we went shopping and ate cupcakes from Crumb's, so here are some pictures.
